PRESIDENT, Bernadette O’Donnell welcomed Little Leigh WI members to their recent meeting and annual produce show. Cards and flowers were presented to Gladys Heywood and Cynthia Bradshaw who were celebrating special ‘0’ Birthdays.

Brenda Smith gave an enlightening account of her visit to the AGM in London and said that singing ‘God Save the Queen’ in front of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth had been a very moving experience along with making an appearance on national television.

Two events are being held in aid of St Michael and All Angels Church, an evening with Geoff Ashley, July 25 and a strawberry tea, August 15 2-4pm at Leigh Hall, the home of Barbara Horton, from 2pm-4pm.

The guest speaker at the autumn group meeting will be Anne Diamond. Tickets are £12.

Roger Nutter, a volunteer for the RSPB Chester branch was guest speaker for the evening with an interesting talk on Gardening for Birds.

He was thanked by Carol Ashdown.
