GORDON Atkinson was inducted as the new President for 2015-2016 at Rotary Club Northwich Vale Royal recently.

He told members: “It is a great privilege to have this opportunity to lead our wonderful club and I hope that over the coming months I am able to demonstrate adequate leadership to do justice to the confidence you have placed in me.

“I am very aware that success for a club like ours stems largely from two things.

Firstly from the legacy of past years and past presidents and secondly and very importantly success is in the present.

“It is the current members with their enthusiasm, dedication, time and vast array of talents that makes the club what it is.”

Gordon spoke of his hopes and aspirations for the club over the coming year.

“Overall I am hoping the year starts really, really well and then, bit by bit, gets better each and every day.

“My intention is to continue to build on the strong foundations laid down by previous presidents and their teams. The challenge of continuing our club’s successful past record is in itself a daunting challenge.

“The following are some of my ambitions for this coming year: to maintain a good balance of fun and friendship as we work for communities; to maintain a high level of enthusiasm and involvement of you our existing members and, at the same time, to respect the contribution that our wives and partners make to our club; to introduce new men and women to Rotary and specifically to our club.

And finally, through constant communications in all formats, the whole community where we live and work will have a clear understanding of who we are and what we do.”
