MEMBERS of Dutton WI have been enjoying outings, holidays and summer fetes recently. Preston Brook Village Hall summer fair on June 13 was a huge success.

The sun shone and everyone enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. 19 members went on holiday to Eastbourne, they explored the South Downs and visited Sheffield Park Gardens and Bexhill-on-Sea.

A party was held at the hotel to celebrate the WI centenary.

Janet Davies was the guest speaker, her chair-based exercises to music were great fun. Members were delighted to be having fun and keeping fit at the same time.

Barbara Walton attended the garden party at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall on Tuesday, June 2.

She arrived at the Hyde Park entrance to find hundreds of ladies chatting and very excited to be there.

The walk through the gardens was breathtaking with brass bands playing on the approach to the palace, the wind was blowing so there were lots of flying hats.

A delicious afternoon tea was served. The Duchess of Cornwall arrived accompanied by Princess Alexandra, they stopped to chat to a few ladies on their way to the royal tent for tea.

Jane Gleave attended the centenary AGM at The Royal Albert Hall which was attended by The Queen.

The cake was cut and the national anthem was sung to welcome The Queen on to the stage.

She spoke about inspiring women over the last 100 years and their achievements, including votes for women, the first female Prime Minister and the increasing roles women play in business.
