The 2nd leg of Northwich’s Walking Football kicked off at 10am on April 29, after a close run draw in the first leg.
The game kicked off with tremendous walking power. The 65s to 75s (yes 75s) took
control, and went straight into the lead. Cunning speed, off the ball walking, took them into
a 4-0 lead. A break to take on water appeared to give the 55s to 65s time to catch their
breath. After this break the 55s to 65 appeared to have taken on more than water.
Walking their legs off, the 65s to 75s (yes 75s) fought back.
Powerwalking down both wings, sending in passes to be walked onto, brought the
goals to a winning 5-4. A disappointment to the 65s to75 (yes 75s), who were now
kicking against both winds. Fitness levels are seen to be improving, and leg leg-lengths
becoming longer. Breathing, together with an increasing awareness of improving
movement as individuals, is recognised by each and every player. It is without
doubt the best way to improve health, in a game thought unplayable at an older age.
Instead of saying to the wife I could do that, and then having to pick her up off the floor, because she can’t stop laughing join us 10 am to 11am every Wednesday at Winnington Park Leisure Centre.
