Warrington Speakers Club by Fred Jones

Chair Eric Jennings introduced founder member Maurice Monks to the April meeting of the Warrington Speakers Club. The topic was the ‘Word on Humour’ which highlighted the careers of the great double acts of the 20th century.

This was followed by John Sanson whose title was ‘Vote for Me’ who gave an excellent, humorous speech.

Frank Samuel gave a very informative talk on the ‘Mechanics of Politics’ based on the art of persuasion.

All members were then invited to join in the ‘Topics’ session with members taking on the role of

MDs of major retailers, whose job was to persuade members shop at their stores and not with their competitors’.

The meeting finished with a hilarious general evaluation of the evening’s programme by Doug Pass.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 14 at the Village Hotel at 7.30pm.

Guests and new members are always welcome.
