DARNHALL AND WETTENHALL WI by Marjorie Sherry
The April meeting of Darnhall & Wettenhall WI at Darnhall Village hall was taken by Jean Hitchen, the President. It began with the singing of Jerusalem and apologies. Minutes and correspondence were read and approved.
Since the last meeting members had taken part in various social activities.
Members were told of forthcoming group and county events including the Cheshire Show and the group meeting at Tarporley.
The speaker for the evening was Keith Vigurs who having retired from being a bank manager was ‘head hunted’ and became a mystery shopper.
He told members how he goes into supermarkets and checks how assistants deal with members of the public looking for particular items, and members who when behind the scenes at Sainsbury’s could relate to this.
On a number of occasions he has sat at various railway stations waiting for his train to come in, in fact checking whether or not they are running late.
On a number of occasions his wife helps out, especially when checking restaurant meals.
Tea and cakes followed.
The speaker did the draw for the Darnhall Village Hall 200 Club and the winning numbers were 9, 50, 144 & 158
