HARTFORD WI APRIL REPORT by Sally White
The President Pam Lamb welcomed members and visitors to the April meeting. The evening commenced with a minute’s silence for Audrey Williams, who died recently. The ballot to choose a member to attend the Buckingham Palace WI Garden Party was won by Mary Atkins. Congratulations to Margaret Wright who won a bridge drive at Acton Bridge. Judith Kennedy gave details of the Anglesey trip in April and also the Birthday Centenary Celebrations at Gawsworth Hall in July. Elva Parkes unveiled the banner she and her team have made which will be on display at the Cheshire Show and Gawsworth Hall to celebrate Cheshire WI’s 95th year.
The speaker and No7 demonstrator was Karen White with her model Donna. Karen gave an informative talk and demonstration on skincare/makeup showing how to make the best of oneself without applying too much of anything. Karen has trained in association with Macmillan Nurses and holds a BMBA, giving beauty therapy to cancer patients during/following treatment. She said how rewarding this work is giving confidence to patients when they most need it. A No7 gift was raffled, all donations going to Macmillan Nurses. This was followed by members rolling coins for ACWW.
