PRESIDENT Sue Richards welcomed members to the 77th birthday of the Antrobus WI. Hazel Rushton was invited to cut the beautiful cake made by Caroline Jones. She was thanked by Sue, as was Janet Featonby, who had brought the flowers for the President’s table.
The speaker was wardrobe mistress Jackie Bilsborough with her colleague Pat Barrow.
They showed beautiful clothes they had made for many productions and the skilful way in which they had used everyday objects to create very realistic and sometimes quite gruesome objects. They were thanked by Joyce Barber.
Joy Corlett gave a resume of the CFWI Annual meeting where the vote taken about the use of mobility scooters was successful. Cheshire Show requires cakes for the WI refreshments.
Group meeting tickets are available and also for the Brindley Theatre, and for ‘Stepping Out’ at the Garrick on April 29.
Members were reminded that prizes are wanted for the tombola at the car boot sale. 2015 educational bursary was drawn. Winner was Carol Brocklehurst with first reserve Joyce Barber and second reserve Robin Martin.
Used postage stamps are wanted for ACWW. One ticket is available for Buckingham Palace Garden Party on June 2 and will be drawn at the April meeting.
Tea was provided by Beryl Williams and Shirley Bolshaw. Sue thanked Margaret McDonald, who had volunteered to help Hazel on the Trading Table.
Flowers for April will be provided by Annie Warburton.
