YES, we are still going strong after ninety-five years. In February we celebrated our birthday with a hot pot supper and sing a long with music and slides from over the 95 years.

The March meeting commenced with the singing of Jerusalem the president Jean Hitchen welcomed members to the meeting and sent ‘get well’ message to a number of members who were unable to attend. The president thanked everyone who had help to make the celebration of our 95th birthday such a success. Representatives of Forrest Group had written to thank us for our hospitably and look forward to meeting our members at the next group meeting.

After discussing the general business, dates for our diaries include a darts evening and a further meeting for the bunting and banner which will be sent to WI House in Chester. A Sunday walk to the Telescope at Darnhall which is an offshoot of the one at Jodrell Bank took place on the March 8.

Speaker for the evening Mr Burgess then gave us visual tour of Cheshire showing many interesting oddities that are right under your nose.

Our representative at the annual general meeting this year will be our secretary Linda Edwards it will be her first visit to an AGM and since it will mark 100 years of the WI no doubt it will be a memorable one.

The next meeting is on April 7 and in entitled ‘Mystery Shopper’.
