The fifth meeting of the English Speaking Union (E.S.U.) was held at Portal Premier Golf Club recently.
Philip Holroyd was guest speaker for the meeting and his subject was 'James Gillray - Political caricaturist of the 18th century'. It turned out to be very apt in view of the events in France. History teaches - nothing changes! Although he had many slides his actual cartoons, which were passed round to members, were a great talking point as they have so much detail.
The next meeting is on February 10, at Portal Premier Golf Club with guest speaker Clare Pye talking about 'The Collection at Tabley House'. Please call 01606 76534 for further information.
