Winsford U3A celebrated Christmas lunch in style at the Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club. It was a truly festive occasion with 67 members enjoying the Abbey's excellent facilities and service with three course meal complete with coffee and mince pies.

The MC co-ordinated the event and the singing group led the festivities with great gusto starting with 'Deck the Halls' followed by 'Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas'. The light-hearted mood continued as each table was presented with a fun Christmas quiz, with winning and booby prizes being distributed later.

Members generously donated raffle prizes, the home-made Christmas cake, as usual, was the first to go. After eating, drinking and making merry, the celebrations drew to a close with the singing 'Winter Wonderland', 'White Christmas' and finally a rousing chorus of 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'. A vote of thanks was given to the organisers and many people expressed their appreciation of a happy and joyous occasion.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, January 13 at 2pm in St Andrew's Church Hall, Dingle Lane.

Speakers, Katie Brownbill and Terry Savage will give a presentation on 'Hospital and In-Community Care Services' followed by questions on personal experiences, they are not expecting an easy ride. Further information is available from Winsford Library, winsfordu3a website or 01606 593726
