President John Hill welcomed five guests to The Warrington Speakers Club December Meeting, held at the Village Hotel.
Eight speakers were heard, some on a theme of “What does Christmas mean to you?” with four guests speaking about their local ambitions for May 2015. This was followed by a “Soap Box” presentation by John on the irritations and frustrations of modern life.
Fred Jones then gave a reading about the famous World War One Christmas 1914 Football Match between the English and German soldiers in No Man’s Land.
To complete the meeting, members held a three minute Topics session on a selected topic of the day.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Village Hotel, 7pm for 7.30pm. The theme for the evening will be “Inventors in History”. Guests and new members are welcome.
If you wish to “Stand, Speak & Deliver” an effective Business Presentation or After Dinner Speech the Club is running a second Effective Speaking Course for five weeks starting on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Tim Parry Community Centre in Great Sankey.
