June Sloan, standing in for President Brenda Hickson, welcomed members to the December meeting of Winsford WI, which was held at Meadow Bank Lodge. June was stepping in for Brenda who was unable to attend due to a fall.

During the business section, it was reported that four members had attended the Group Carol Service and had served refreshments. A large bouquet was sent to Brenda as thanks for her 10 years hard work as President and Treasurer, and Betty Johnson was presented with flowers in appreciation of opening her house for Committee Meetings over the past 12 years.

Mince pies and mulled wine were served, and then time was spent trying to do a quiz provided by June. Members had not been that quiet for a long time!

Among the reminiscences from past meetings was one from June when she recalled having a diamond ring on each finger brought along by a Speaker from a local jeweller.

Everyone agreed that over the years many good friends had been made. Members still meet for coffee each month at St Luke’s Coffee Shop, Delamere Street, Winsford, the next gathering being on January 20, at 11am.
