THE speaker at the recent meeting of Winsford Ladies Midweek club was ASDA’s Training Manager Caroline Cocklin, who was accompanied by section leader for fresh foods, Carole Blackburn.

Members were interested to hear about the Winsford store’s recent one million pound refurbishment. The general layout of the store has been improved with particular emphasis on the clothes area.

The store has introduced some self-checkouts, an opticians and a pharmacy offering home delivery of prescriptions.

ASDA endeavour to source their food with customer’s best interests in mind regarding price and quality and are always open to suggestions for improvement.

Caroline emphasised the importance of their aims to work with the local community and members who regularly shop in the store praised the friendliness and helpfulness of staff.

Part of the store’s community work is the 'green token scheme' which enables customers to vote for their favourite local charity or good cause.

Every month, three different local charities or good causes get a chance to receive a donation towards their invaluable work through the scheme. Other community news and projects can be found on the Community Board within the store.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, as well as the usual special offers, two local brass bands will be in playing carols in store.

There will also be an opportunity to donate toys to the Salvation Army’s annual collection and make donations to the Food Bank.
