President Jane Bell welcomed members to the November meeting and AGM at Crowton WI. She reported on the recent Group meeting and was pleased to announce that Elizabeth Pearson was the winner of the Hornsby Cup. The competition was for a chocolate cake and Elizabeth was the star baker. The next Group event is a carol service at The King’s Church in Helsby on December 1, at 7pm.

The AGM got underway with an overview from the Treasurer of the Financial Statement, followed by the Secretary’s Annual Report. During the President’s address it was noted that Jane is to stand down as President. She thanked the committee and other members for all their support and hard work during her three year term. The 2014/2015 committee was announced and it was noted that Kathy Baldwin will take over as President from the December meeting. The AGM was followed with faith supper and social time.

Members enjoyed a trip to Port Sunlight; the luncheon club were heading to The Maypole for lunch; the games evening continues to be well supported and is enjoyed by all who attend. There is a Christmas Fair in Crowton Village Hall on November 28 and a concert by The Weaver Valley Choir which also takes place on November 28, in Acton Bridge Parish Rooms.

Members have been invited to a New Year lunch at Abbeywood on Tuesday, January 20 and there are plans to visit the National Arboretum and Lichfield in April, details to be confirmed.

The next meeting will be on December 2, when speaker Karen Corcoran will give a talk entitled ‘The Lady Policeman’. Visitors and potential new members are always welcome, meetings take place at Crowton Village Hall on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm.
