Members of Winsford U3A held an Open Meeting at their October meeting.

The visiting speaker gave a talk on the work of the Red Cross, which is part of a global voluntary network responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies anywhere in the world. Everyone listening was enlightened by the breadth of their work particularly regarding emergencies in the UK. For instance if your house burns down in the night and neighbours are not available to help, the Red Cross could provide you with a caravan for as long as is necessary.

During the tea break members booked for some forthcoming events, including the Dan Arts Coventry trip, Classics by Candlelight at the Bridgewater Hall, and the Christmas lunch which is taking place on Friday, December 12, at Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club.

Anyone interested in joining Winsford U3A is welcome to visit the Helpdesk in Winsford Library on Friday, November 14, between 2 and 3pm. On Friday, November 28, members will be meeting for a seasonal welcome morning with coffee and mince pies in Hazelmere restaurant at 10.15am, and visitors are welcome to join in and find out about the Club’s activities.

As a result of recent promotions Winsford U3A now has around 200 members and over 25 interest groups. For more information please visit the Winsford U3A website or ring 01606 593726.
