PICKMERE Photographic Society's summer competition on August 31 at Pickmere Funday by the lake drew a large number of entries.
The standard was high and the competition was judged by ex-Guardian photographer Alan Taylor.
A special class for non-members attracted some excellent photographs: 1. Adele Scott; 2. Mike Robinson; 3. G Robinson. Jessica Bradburn was highly commended for her photograph of ducks — a great achievement for a six-year old!
Open Class: 1. Chris Tarrant; 2. Chris Tarrant; 3. Chris Tarrant. Roger Warner, who specialises in images of steam trains, was highly commended for his photograph of a steam train at York.
Flora and Fauna: 1. Brian Gallimore; 2. Ian Parr; 3. Ian Parr. Gina Gates's photograph of a mouse eating an apple in her garden was highly commended.
Landscapes: 1. Ian Parr; 2. Ian Parr; 3. Brian Howe. Ian Parr was also highly commended.
Portrait: 1. Club founder Joe Robinson for a portrait of his granddaughter Amber, and was also highly commended; 2. Chris Tarrant; 3. Roger Warner.
The club usually meet on the third Thursday of the month at Pickmere Village Hall, Pickmere Lane, at 7.45pm.
The next meeting is on October 16, when Jackie Keasley returns to show slides of her travels in 2014.
On November 20, Keith Birkett will give an illustrated talk about the history of Roberts Bakery. Visitors are very welcome. Club chairman Roy Kirkpatrick can be contacted on 01565 733200.
