AT the August meeting of the Wednesday Club, chairman Heather Casson welcomed members and friends for a cream tea held in honour of former chairman and long-serving committee member, Mavis Dutton, who died earlier in the year.
As well as delicious scones and cakes made by members, everyone enjoyed a raffle, bring-and-buy stall and a quiz presented by new committee member, Sandra Bowyer.
Sandra’s quiz, Who said that? gave cryptic clues to countries around the world, which caused much hilarity.
Proceeds from the event will be given to Macmillan Nurses.
The next meeting will be on September 10, at Hartford Methodist church hall, when Janet Bradshaw will have Sweet Memories.
