THE August meeting of Darnhall and Wettenhall WI, taken by vice-president Helen Walker, began with the singing of Jerusalem.

Get well wishes were sent to sick members and a visitor was welcomed.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and signed as a correct record. Correspondence followed and everyone was thanked for their help with Darnhall Village Day and WI café.

The darts players had been practising since the last meeting.

Names were collected for the annual hot pot supper in October together with the names of members who are willing to help make bunting for the branch's 95th birthday next year.

The speaker for the evening was Paul Hurley with a talk on local history. He showed photographs of old Winsford and told members about the history of the area. He has published a number of books on the history of local towns and cities and is due to have one published later this year on Chester in the 1950s.

200 Club numbers: 22; 59; 83; 159.

The next meeting is on September 2.
