THE Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal has announced its new president for 2014/15 as Joe Hughes.

Joe is 49, married to Julia, and has a 17-year-old daughter.

Originally from Essex, he moved to the Northwich area 31 years ago and has been a member of Rotary for six years, after spending the previous seven in Northwich Round Table doing good works in the local community.

Joe said: “I am honoured to be president for the coming year and hope to continue the great work that the club has become well known for in recent years.”

His main aim is to bring new members to the club, so that it can continue its good work.

He added: “It is important that we continue to boost our membership to attract new members who have new ideas and the drive and enthusiasm to help the club grow.

“It would be great if we could attract some new women members to our club, too, so that it is not a totally male dominated environment.”

Joe’s first big task of his year in office was to preside over the second Scooter Rally at Blakemere Village, which was once again well supported.

Indications are that it has been a very successful event once again.

The Rotary Club meets most weeks at The Blue Cap, Sandiway, at 7.30pm.
