PRESIDENT, Margaret McDonald welcomed members, friends and visitors to the recent meeting of Antrobus WI and thanked June Bingham for playing “Jerusalem”.

She also thanked everybody who helped at the Village Fete and congratulated those who received awards for entries in Cheshire Show.

The team who had entered Class 1 were delighted to receive third prize with two of their entries receiving full marks. Hilary Howman had best in show for her jam and Shirley Bolshaw, also with full marks, was highly commended as was Jean Wilkinson for her pastry. Hazel Rushton with only half a mark less, received commended. Margaret McDonald achieved highly commended for her marble cake. In Floral Art, Lillian Wilkinson received a third prize and Mary Taylor had a third in Hard Craft.

Those who had not won were encouraged to continue to enter as everybody had very good marks and the standard of work was excellent.

There is no meeting on August 19 as Marcia Percival has arranged a trip to the Macclesfield Silk Museum on Tuesday, August 12. Meet in the Village Hall car park at 5.30pm. For further details please call Marcia on 01606 892968.

Guest speaker for the meeting was Wendy Lord; a brilliant needlewoman and embroiderer who showed her large collection of Anglican Priests, using artist’s models, all in different vestments. She explained the meaning of the different colours and was thanked by Meryl Phillips.

Margaret thanked the tea hostesses Josie, Sue and Shirley.
