THE July meeting of the Wednesday club was opened by Jean Harrop who welcomed back members who had not attended for a while through illness.
She introduced the speaker for the evening, Marian Bray who gave a talk entitled “A little bit of China in your garden”. It was based on a trip that she and her husband had taken on their retirement.
The talk was accompanied by slides showing many beautiful wild flowers that they found as they explored a southern region of China.
They visited various temples and enjoyed walking along the Yangtze River amongst the wild flowers and breathtaking scenery of snow covered mountains even on a mid summers day.
Anita Woodhouse gave the vote of thanks.
There will be a Bring & Buy at the August meeting with all proceeds going to Macmillan Nurses in memory of a well loved member who recently passed away.
