THE Deanery has responded well to appeals for knitted items which have been very gratefully received by Knit for Peace, Christian Hope International and Preemies UK.

Preemies UK were delighted with the huge amount of premature baby items that they had sent to them, together with blankets, cardigans and hats, their parcel included 79 body warmers.

In May, Davenham branch celebrated 110 years and welcomed members from other branches to celebrate with them. The Service began with the St Michael & All Angels hand bell ringers playing a number of hymns, with members singing along.

Long-service certificates were given out by Diocesan President Angela Klabou to members. The cake, made by Supa Dupa Cakes of Davenham was cut by Angela and their three eldest members.

Christ Church, Wharton branch welcomed Sybella Walker who gave a detailed account of the round the world trip that she undertook with her husband, last year.

She explained all the pitfalls of being away for 156 days. She talked about the number of Christian people she met on her journey both at sea and on land and with the Captain's approval she started a Prayer Meeting on-board.

Both Winnington and Middlewich branches have welcomed Janet Bowden, Accommodation Officer for Bridge Foyer in Chester. Janet spoke about her role and some of the young people who are provided with high quality accommodation, support and a wide range of learning and personal development opportunities
