PRESIDENT Jean Hitchen began the May meeting with the singing of Jerusalem and apologies. Minutes and correspondence were read and approved.

Details were given of forthcoming group and county events including the Cheshire Show and the group meeting at Tarporley.

Trips are planned to see The Mousetrap at Crewe Theatre and a walk at Dorothy Clive Gardens. The speaker for the evening was Heather Hulse from Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

She spoke about the work of the trust in Darnhall and Cheshire. Some breeds of animals are better on certain types of land and help promote different species of wildlife and plants.

Some of the areas used by the trust are kept secret so that rare species can develop. They have various schemes that the public can join to encourage wildlife in your area.

The resolution for the AGM was discussed.

The link institute for this year is Winsford; one of their representatives attended the meeting to listen to members comments.

Tea and cakes followed with time for a chat and a look at the book stall.
