THREE new shops have opened up in Northwich town centre so far during November.

The Kitchen Garden has opened in Weaver Square, The Cheshire Bed Company has opened in Market Street and Glam Accessories has opened in Witton Street.

Dave Hodkinson, from The Kitchen Garden, said: “The opening day was a very nervous day because it’s a big move for me.

“We had 110 sales on day one and the people of Northwich have come in and said they’re made up we’re here.

“I’ve said bear with us because we’ll have lots more products in and I think we’ll do really well.”

The Kitchen Garden is an extension of Dave’s established business, Acton Bridge Nursery and Shrub Centre, but with more emphasis on tasty treats for the kitchen as well as plants and gifts.

He has created one new job with the shop and hopes to encourage more businesses to open up in Weaver Square Shopping Centre.

Nick Colley has opened The Cheshire Bed Company in Market Street, at the former All That Jazz shop.

He said: “We have Castle Bedding, in Darwin Street, and we thought ‘let’s go for the town centre and get more footfall coming our way, why not?’.

“We’ve been busy with people coming through the door but it’s a slow burn – we’re selling things you wouldn’t buy on impulse so it’s about building up.”

Husband and wife team Leon and Michelle Waldron have set up Glam Accessories in the former Sweet Shop in Witton Street, which has now moved into High Street.

The duo sell ladies’ wear, footwear, handbags, purses, scarves and jewellery and said Northwich was the perfect location for them.

Leon said: “We’ve recently moved from Middlewich to Northwich and it’s a really good location for us.

“It’s one of the most thriving towns around unless you travel far a field.

“We did a bit of research and Northwich came out top of our list.”

They set the business up four years ago, trading at markets, festivals and fairs from a converted mini-bus painted in their signature bright pink paint.

Leon said: “We built up our money and tried to keep enough back to get us into a shop so fingers crossed that it works for us, we would love nothing better than to stay here.”
