TAKEAWAYS across mid Cheshire are joining a campaign to keep their customers healthy.
Harry’s Fish Bar, in Albert Place, in Northwich, and Winsford Kebab and Pizza Place, in Delamere Street, have signed up to the Salt Shaker project.
The scheme, run by Cheshire Community Development Trust (CCDT) and supported by the NHS and Cheshire West and Chester Council, asks outlets to swap their traditional 17-hole salt shakers for those with five holes.
CCDT supplies the new shakers, which provide enough salt for taste and appearance but reduce the amount consumed.
Excessive salt can raise blood pressure and lead to an increased risk of heart disease or stroke.
