CUSTOMERS at a Winsford supermarket will be welcomed by a friendly community supporter as Morrisons announces its new face of the store.

Patrick Melody will be helping Morrisons continue their successful fundraising and community work with the store celebrating 20 years since it opened its doors in the town.

Patrick, who will be assisting charities and community groups, was welcomed to the role by the Mayor of Winsford Clr Mike Kennedy.

The community representative for Winsford Morrisons has fundraising plans that will encourage customers and shoppers to get involved and, together with general manager Danny Doherty, he gave Clr Kennedy a tour of the store.

The mayor tasted new products and visited the staff responsible for food preparation as well as learning how the recent changes within the store have helped customers and colleagues.

Clr Kennedy said: “It was a pleasure to receive an invitation to tour Morrisons Winsford store on bank holiday Monday.

“In my role as mayor for the year I said that I would engage with and promote all businesses so I was pleased to tour the store and have a meeting with general manager Danny Doherty and their new community representative. It was especially interesting to see behind the scenes and hear how the food is sourced, cooked or prepared.

“This however was no ordinary tour of the business as the main theme was Morrisons’ closer links with the community and it was interesting to see how Morrisons wish to progress further on this.

“My congratulations go to Patrick Melody, who is the newly appointed community representative for Morrisons, and he gave an excellent presentation.”

Patrick said: “As a store we want to contribute more for the local community than we have done in the past.

“As a company Morrisons is encouraging its store teams to get out and about meeting local groups and charities in order to make a difference.”
