Lostock residents asked for their views on Triangle homes

LOSTOCK residents are being asked for their views on the construction of 155 family homes at Lostock Triangle business park.

The scheme, presented to Lostock Parish council last week could generate more than 650 jobs if given the go ahead.

The land in question had originally been earmarked for office use but, due to the tough economic climate, developers have had to alter their plans.

Emma Cordingly, of CDP Ltd said: “We’ve commissioned an independent review of the office market in Northwich and the wider Cheshire area and it has confirmed our growing concern that there is simply too much allocated land and existing stock in the Northwich area when compared to demand.

“This fact, alongside the undersupply of land for new homes in the area, coupled with increasing demand for sustainable mixed use schemes, has resulted in a reconsideration of our masterplan for the park.”

A 30 per cent portion of the properties have been earmarked for affordable housing, with open space also provided in the plans.

It is believed the development could create more than 200 direct jobs related to the construction and more than 450 indirect jobs.

Nicola Clarke, clerk to Lostock Gralam parish council, said some of the council’s previous concerns have been lifted since seeing the altered plans.

She said: “Traffic and parking was always going to be a problem once the site was developed for business use so we’re much happier that a proportion of the site will now be housing as this will benefit the village with school numbers, trade for the shops and other businesses in the area.

“It should also alleviate the possible problems of an empty business park in the evenings which could have led to antisocial problems.”

A public exhibition is scheduled for October 17 between 2pm and 7pm at Unit 7 Admiral Court, Cheshire Business Park.
