Help Northwich Stand Up To Cancer

HIGH street advertising space is being offered to people who are determined to Stand Up To Cancer.
The Cancer Research UK shop, in Witton Street, is renting out its shop window for hour segments on a busy Saturday as part of a national campaign.
Cancer Research UK has teamed up with Channel Four to launch the week-long campaign from October 19, urging stars, scientists and the people of the UK to Stand Up To Cancer.
Nicola Haupt, manager of the Witton Street shop, said Northwich residents, groups and societies can join in by thinking of innovative ways to use the window space.
“Currently we’ve got a band that are willing to give us some money to stand in our window for an hour and play,” she said.
“We’ve also contacted local Guide and Scout groups to see if they want to advertise themselves but it’s open to everyone.
“I’m hoping we get more people involved because it’s not often you get a chance to advertise your group in the high street on a Saturday – and Witton Street is very busy on a Saturday – and you’ll be supporting Stand Up To Cancer at the same time.
“Let’s see what people can come up with.”
Nicola said a similar project at the shop had worked very well in the past.
“We’ve had a live window display before,” she said.
“It’s amazing how many people stare and almost walk into each other.
“It will definitely draw attention.”
People can rent an hour in the shop window for £10 on Saturday, October 20.
The shop is also holding a Stand Up Cafe on Friday, October 19.
For more information or to book a slot in the window ring Leanne or Lesley on 01606 44644.
• A silent auction held by the shop in September, featuring a painting, dove cote and vintage dolls’ toy shop, raised £250.
