BICYCLING women will be heading out for a Sunday morning ride with an Olympian this weekend.

Gold medallist Victoria Pendleton will be taking a break from her Strictly Come Dancing training to ride with participants of the second annual Cycletta North at Tatton Park.

The inaugral women-only event proved hugely popular last year and has since expanded to seven events nationally.

Victoria said: “Being able to cycle with so many girls on bikes in Cycletta last year was one of my highlights of 2011.

“2012 is already a special year and I really hope that thousands more women will join me on a bike this year.

“Cycletta is the perfect event to get on two wheels with the girls and have some fun.”

Cycletta, part of the Human Race group, is a unique series of women-only, mass-participation cycle events.

The events take place on safely managed roads and provide a sufficient fitness challenge whilst remaining achievable and accessible to women of all abilities.

Cycletta also prides itself on its helmet hair remedy centers, Cycletta village full of refreshments, pampering and entertainment and its world class safety, signage and mechanical support around the route.

Victoria will be joined by a celebrity cohort of Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien and Helen Flanagan, Capital Radio DJ and footballer wife Carla Kompany, West End actress and footballers wife Jessica Lawlor and WAGS Chantelle Tagoe and Debbie Lescott, who are all raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Cycletta’s official charity partner.

Sarah Page, local fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support is delighted to be the official charity of Cycletta.

“To have these high profile individuals joining in and supporting our cause is fantastic – a huge thank you to everyone who will be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in the event.”
