A NORTHWICH man remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital following a serious collision with a bus.

Emergency services were called to Dane Street, neat to the junction with Watling Street, at 5.08pm on Wednesday, September 19, following reports of a collision between an Arriva bus and a pedestrian.

On arrival, police discovered a 54-year-old man from the Northwich area with serious head injuries.

One passer by described seeing a “huddle of people” crowded around the man on the floor, although she did not see the actual collision.

“It must have happened a couple of minutes before I arrived – I couldn’t tell if he was in a bad way or not.”

The injured pedestrian was taken to Leighton Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Another woman, who was on her way home from town, said: “I didn’t see what happened but the bus driver looked like they were in a lot of shock – they had tears running down their face – they must have been in shock.”

A spokesperson for Arriva said: "We can confirm an incident took place involving one of our vehicles on September 19.
"We are currently assisting the police with their enquiries."

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, or was in the area at the time and saw anything which might assist officers with their enquiries.
