POLICE have confirmed that the body found in a block of flats in Northwich was that of a 43-year-old man.

Emergency services were called to the flats on Manchester Road at 1.05pm yesterday, Thursday, after a member of the public reported concerns for the welfare of one of the occupants.

It was reported there could be carbon monoxide within the flat.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police worked to establish if a chemical was present.

It is believed the flat contained suspicious items, which had to be checked to ensure the safety of emergency services before they could enter.
