Graham Evans MP gets to work at the Salvation Army

AN MP rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in to an hour of work in Northwich to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Salvation Army’s Northwich Corps received ‘a gift of time’ from Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans on Friday as part of ‘The Jubilee Hour’.

The Jubilee Hour aims to recognise the Queen’s 60 years of public service by encouraging people to undertake at least 60 minutes of volunteering, or an act of goodwill.

Mr Evans pledged his 60 minutes of volunteering to the Salvation Army in Northwich.

The Salvation Army has a long history of offering practical support to people who are vulnerable or in need in every community.

Captain Imogen Stewart said: “We’re grateful that Mr Evan’s selected Northwich corps for his Jubilee commitment and it recognises the local work that goes on and support available.

“We demonstrate our belief by changing people’s lives within communities and carry out a range of activities for the community most recently linked into the Olympics where we had an Olympic café and sports themed outreach.”

Northwich Corps also has an Ultimate Church display running at the moment which has been designed to deliver a fun and educational visit to your local church.

The corps runs various projects and activities aimed at engaging with all areas of the community from toddlers all the way through to older people.

Well done Graham.

Now how about spending another hour of your time trying to persuade your Conservative mates who run CWAC Council to take the matter of the smelly drains in Northwich Town Centre seriously and do something about them.

NO MONEY FOR THE NORTHWICH SMELLING DRAINS.

Cheshire West & Chester Council have revealed images for a New Theatre and Culture Complex for CHESTER.

The Complex for the Northgate Street Area will incorporate two Theatres, the City’s Library and will cost a cool £40.5 Million Pounds.

The proposal was due to go before the Councils Executive for Final Approval on the 5th September.

Councillor Stuart Parker says,” The Complex would deliver significant Community benefits.”

I say, “WHAT ABOUT THE SMELLING DRAINS IN NORTHWICH?”

Thanks for the information, onered.

I agree with everything you say.

We plebs who live in the backwoods like Northwich should have known what was coming when the aristocrats in Chester forced us to have the city mentioned in the name of our borough. Presumably just 'Cheshire West' was not posh enough.

One set of rules for Chester and another for everybody else.

Does anybody really think that the stink we have in the centre of Northwich would be tolerated by CWAC Council if it was in Chester?

every other shop closed - sold out - even the shopping centre up for sale. not enough stock in housing to keep up with demand, can't meet maintainence demands in the town's infrastructure fast enough. the local hospital hasn't got a single bed open - are these coalition councillors NOT doing us some proud service?
