Hit the high notes in Cuddington competition and win £10,000

SINGERS hungry for success will be lining up to prove themselves in Cuddington’s answer to the X Factor on Saturday, September 1.

The White Barn, in Forest Road, is holding its first heat of The H Factor, giving contestants chance to win a £10,000 prize.

The national winner in the contest, being run across the UK’s Hungry Horse dining pubs, will also scoop a day in a recording studio.

Sharon McDermott, who manages the White Barn with husband Kevin, said: “We put on quite a lot here and music events always go down so well.

“I’m really excited now after speaking to people about their songs – there’s going to be a lot of variety.

“We’re only a small Hungry Horse so it would be so good if there was someone from here that went all the way to the final.”

The White Barn is holding two heats, the first on Saturday and the second on September 15.

Four contestants will be put through to the Cuddington final, which will be held in the pub on September 29.

The best singer will win a laptop donated by Surf and Fix IT and be put through to the regional heat, held in October.

The regional winner will go to the national final, where they could win the £10,000 and day in a recording studio.

One of the Cuddington judges is Alistair Young, from Ben’s Bouncers and Alcaz Entertainments.

He said: “I was in the music industry for quite some time as a DJ sponsored by Virgin.

“I’ve worked with some of the biggest and best.

“I’m going to be critical, I’ll be the Mr Cowell of the judges.

“At the end of the day they’re going to win £10,000 and a day in a recording studio so I’m not going to give someone chance to win £10,000 if they’re rubbish.”

There is still time to enter the H Factor - just email Sharon at the White Barn before August 31 at 6104greeneking.co.uk.

The Guardian will also have its say in the winner, with chief reporter Gina Bebbington judging the two preliminary heats and new recruit Emma Rigby judging at the White Barn’s final.
