Harlequins appeal for actors with sense, and sensibility

ACTORS and actresses are needed to join an award-winning theatre company’s production of a Jane Austen classic.

Harlequin Theatre, in Northwich, is holding an audition for Sense and Sensibility at its Queen Street headquarters on Wednesday, August 29.

Director Kelly White, who is hoping to repeat her sell-out success with Pride and Prejudice, said: “I am really excited by the new adaptation by Jon Jory that we will be using, which allows us to use a minimal set and concentrate on the characters and moving the action along.”

Another Harlequin signature feature of beautiful, authentic costumes is guaranteed as Kelly has secured the services of wardrobe mistresses Julie Hoskins and Ann Lloyd.

The show take the stage from October 24 to 27.

Kelly is especially looking for young men who can play in the 20 to 35 age group and carry a plot line where what is said disguises what is really felt, and where conventional politeness disguises manipulation and downright deception.

Actresses who can play young women seeking to break through convention as they search for romance and happiness are also needed.

Auditions will start at 7.45pm.

Really looking forward to seeing this, the Harlequin are a superb company of actors and actresses. Had I not been rehearsing with the Knutsford Musical Society for their production of "Oliver" which takes place at the Grange School Theatre in January 2013 I would have auditioned for a part but I doubt I could have passed for 35!
Another great show is coming up in November "Hello Dolly" by the Mid Cheshire Amateur Theatre Company also at the Grange School Theatre. If you saw their recent production, "Titanic" you will know what a fabulous company they are too. We may not have a cinema or a purpose built theatre but we do have some great acting companies, Harlequin, Mid Cheshire, Knutsford, Vale Royal, Davenham and Sandiway and of course Moulton. I urge you to support them all.
