Owners appeal for missing cat

has anyone seen Smokey? has anyone seen Smokey?

DISTRAUGHT Rudheath woman has appealed for anyone who may have seen her beloved cat to get in touch before it’s too late.

Joanne Cowell, of Waterside View, is desperate to find Smokey after he escaped during a visit to Abbeycroft Vets, Station Road on Monday, July 23.

The year-old tom was due to have a vital operation to correct an un-descended testicle, which if left untreated could turn cancerous.

Joanne, aged 47, said: “When I arrived at the vets, I put his basket on the ground to lock my car and he forced the door open and jumped over a 6ft fence.

“He’s such a lovely cat, very loving and it feels like losing a child.” Joanne, a Greater Manchester Police officer, first found Smokey in squalid conditions during a raid in Longsight eight months ago, and decided to adopt him.

The animal-lover has spent hours wandering the streets looking for her pet and daughter Kim has posted flyers in windows around the town. Smokey has not been neutered which could be clouding his homing instincts.

“The testicle could become cancerous at any time and if anyone has taken him in he could die a slow death without treatment,” Joanne added.

“He’s just marvellous and I love him.” If anyone has spotted Smokey please contact Joanne on 07411 294669 or by email on Sherlockqq@aol.com
