SHOPKEEPERS in Weaver Square are urging customers to support them through this turbulent time while appealing for more information about their future.

Traders say they have not been told what will happen but are still opening as normal.

Mary-Lou Rooney, from Prooz, said: “We’re not going, it’s not the businesses in receivership but the landlords.”

Alison Walker, from Cosy Kitchen, said: “Please keep supporting us, we’re still going to be here.”

But they said that they have heard nothing other than the letter informing them receivers have been appointed.

“It’s stomach-churning at the moment and your mind works overtime,” Alison said.

“I’ve got seven girls that work for me and I’ve had to tell them.

“But what we’re more disgusted at is that people knew before we got our letters and were coming in asking us about it.”

Mary-Lou said: “We’ve absolutely no idea what’s going to happen, it’s Chinese whispers and we’ve not heard anything official.

“We just want to know more, it’s as simple as that.”
