Christmas play wins summer awards

A THEATRE group from Northwich swept the board at a county awards evening.

Harlequin Theatre’s Christmas production of Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol was recognised at Cheshire Theatre Guild’s awards.

First time Harlequin director Laura Bason collected three prestigious trophies for Dramatic Achievement, Best Director and Best Overall Production 2011-2012.

The production also won Best Lighting and Sound.

Laura, from Winsford, said: “Gosh! I go to the CTG awards tonight and get six nominations and four awards – best light and sound, best dramatic achievement, best overall production and best director.

“That is what happens when you have an amazing cast and crew, thank you all so much.”

All four actors, Chris Saunders as Jacob Marley, Chris Finney as Scrooge, Matthew Lambert as The Record Keeper and Rick Beech, received nominations for Best Actor.

Harlequin Theatre’s September production of Eight also won Best Poster design for its clarity and straightforward style.

Its next production, Road by Jim Cartwright, runs from September 5 to September 8.
