Are you Dame for a Laugh for St Luke's Hospice?

BRAVE men are being invited to don frocks and high heels for the third annual Dame for a Laugh Walk in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.

Registration is now open for the fundraiser, which takes place on September 22.

The event is a 5km walk which begins from the Salt Cellar pub in Middlewich and is open to men only.

With a trophy available for best dressed dame, participants are encouraged to regale themselves in full pantomime dame dress.

But men can also just wear a wig and a dress to take part.

Jane Thompson, head of event management at St Luke’s, said: “This event is a little bit different.

“We realise it takes ‘real men’ with big hearts to dress up in this way.”

Simon Bailey, who has taken part for the past two years, said: “I Know I make a bit of a fool of myself but it is worth it for the hospice who do such amazing work.

“So many of my friends think I am quite mad but the upside is that they are very happy to pay me to do it rather than join in so getting sponsorship is really easy.

“It’s good to know that dressing up for just a few hours can make a difference to the shortfall in income the hospice is experiencing.”Registration forms are available from dameforalaugh.co.uk.
