A WOMAN who was told she would become a mum for the second time just minutes before she gave birth to a bouncing baby girl said her ‘miracle’ arrival is a gift from the heavens.

Cheryl Foy, who lives in Rudheath, only discovered she was eight and a half months pregnant when she was in the maternity ward at Leighton Hospital, on the morning of May 16.

The 37-year-old explained that she woke in the early hours with a crippling pain in her back and called an ambulance after four hours, believing she could be suffering from appendicitis.

“It was a bit of a blur until I got to the hospital,” said Cheryl, who lives in Gadbrook Road with son Jordan Venables and partner Keith.

“The doctor came and saw me and wanted to give me morphine but he had to double check I wasn’t pregnant and it was a nurse that walked by and said I looked like I was in labour.

“They thought that I was eight weeks pregnant at first, and maybe having a miscarriage, but because I was doubled over, the nurse said I looked like I was ready to give birth.”

The proud mum welcomed her new arrival, little Holly Jane, into the world at 11.26am, weighing in at 4lb 12oz.

Cheryl, who works in the kitchens at the University of Chester Academy Northwich (UCAN), formerly Rudheath High School, said: “It has been crazy but a miracle.

“I’ve only just got my head around everything.

“I didn’t have any symptoms or morning sickness and I do cleaning and carrying drums in the kitchen, and even the day before I had her, I was just carrying on my normal life.

“My friends, family and work colleagues have rallied around and the gifts we have received have been absolutely fantastic.

“Everyone has been saying I’ve got this for you, I’ve got that for you, and I had a beautiful bouquet from staff at UCAN.

“You don’t realise how much you are thought of until something like this happens.”

She added: “The doctor reckoned they have had cases like this before where the baby can hide under your ribs or in your back.

“That’s probably why I was doubled over with my back.”

And for Cheryl, who is now taking maternity leave, little Holly’s arrival had an extra special sentiment.

“It is like something being sent to me from above, who wanted me to have her,” she said.

“My nan passed away 10 years ago and I was very, very close to her.

“She saw the first few years of my son’s life and this might just be my nan coming back to me in my arms.”
