STAFF at a Warmingham gas plant have donated more than £1,500 to a charity that is helping to secure vital equipment for a Middlewich youngster.

The Caudwell Children charity received the financial boost from AMEC, after its pledge to support four-year-old Callum Starkey, who suffers from severe learning difficulty Global Developmental Delay.

The charity had set its sights on securing a special therapy tricycle for the youngster, which would help to provide physiotherapy, coordination and social inclusion.

And after hearing about Callum’s plight, AMEC’s 180-strong workforce raised the funds by completing a 24-day period without any reportable incident on the work site.

A staff collection also added to the funds.

Trudi Beswick, chief executive of Caudwell Children, said: “AMEC and its staff has been superb in its efforts to help support Caudwell Children and the work we do.

“It is fantastic to see the great work AMEC and its staff are doing to help community projects and local charities.

“We would like to thank everyone at AMEC and the Warmingham site for their efforts in helping change the lives of disabled children by supporting Caudwell Children.”

Callum was joined by parents Helen and Andrew Starkey for the special cheque presentation.
