Exciting shape of things to come...

A MASTERPLAN for the future of Northwich has finally been revealed.

The latest vision for Baron’s Quay will be officially unveiled next Tuesday, with plans to change traffic flow in the town centre hot on its heels.

Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Weaver Valley Partnership have worked on plans since the agreement with previous Northwich Vision partner Wilson Bowden Developments was scrapped in February.

Now they want the public’s views . Proposals are for more than 300,000 sq ft of shopping space and leisure and social space.

A multiplex cinema is back in the ambitious new scheme, along with a 10-pin bowling outlet, restaurants, cafes and so-called ‘public realm spaces’.

Clr Herbert Manley, of the council described it as a ‘milestone’ and a ‘crucial document’.

He said: “It gives us the power to work with potential tenants to develop the plans in further detail, and ultimately paves the way for a planning application to be taken forward.”

Geoff Hope-Terry said the Weaver Valley Partnership Board, of which he is chairman, supported ‘high-quality new developments that strengthen the town centre as a whole’.

Clr Paul Dolan, a councillor for CWAC and Northwich Town Council, said: “The town is on the brink of exciting new developments which will transform it for future generations.

“I urge residents, businesses and anyone else with an interest in the future of Northwich to take time to view the plans.”
