A NORTHWICH solicitor has taken inspiration from his job to put on his running shoes and tackle the BUPA Great Manchester Run.
Kindhearted Hugh Lewis-Morgan, of Susan Howarth and Company Solicitors, will take on the 10k feat on May 15, in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The 53-year-old explained that he frequently works with Alzheimer’s disease sufferers and their families in cases of power of attorney - where he acts on the behalf of those who do not have mental capacity.
And he said it is this relationship that has inspired him to raise funds to help promote the work of the charity.
“It is obviously a bit of a Cinderella case because it is not like a fashionable charity like a children’s charity - it seems to be one that gets sidelined,” he said.
“I have got a lot of sympathy for people with it.
“It is a terrible disease and with an aging population more people are becoming affected in some way.”
The self-confessed amateur runner has now started to train for the big day, and picked up hints and tips from a professional runner and volunteer for the Alzheimers Society.
“I have never done a run before and I am definitely not a runner really,” said Hugh, who lives in Sandbach.
“But there is no time like the present to start.
“I have really got my work cut out to try to get ready for it but I just thought this was a really good opportunity.”
