Furniture revamp shop earns praise

THE MP for Weaver Vale paid a visit to one of the area’s leading social enterprise companies.

Graham Evans followed up a trip to Furniture Finders, in Winsford, by observing the work of staff at the new shop in Weaver Square, Northwich, that operates under the name Changing Lives in Cheshire (CLIC).

The store sells furniture and a range of other good quality, second-hand items, as a way of helping to fund the social activities that take place at the Winsford branch.

The not-for-profit company prevents hundreds of tonnes of furniture from being dumped in landfill, and has recently received the Social Enterprise Mark Award.

MP Evans said: “I am delighted to see this local social enterprise at work in the area, particularly with the new shop in my constituency.

“It is great to see this is one of the fastest growing companies working at the heart of the community.

“It is brilliant to see the range of benefits this social enterprise offers to the community, including work for those who need it, low cost furniture to the less well-off and such a volume of furniture being recycled away from landfill.”

Gary Cliffe, co-founding director, added: “The social enterprise mark awarded to us is something of which we are rightly proud.

“We look forward to developing the company to achieve much more in days to come so that we can bring benefit to our local community.

“However, we do need more people to donate their good quality furniture and electrical goods to us to help us do this.”
