A TEENAGE serial sex-offender who admitted he, ‘couldn’t help but find young girls attractive’, has been jailed for three years.

Between the ages of 15 and 17, Daniel Hamer, formerly of Winsford, had sex with two girls aged 12 and 13, and assaulted a five-year-old.

Now 18, Hamer, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday to be sentenced for his latest attack against the 13-year-old at Verdin Park Bonfire Night in 2008.

Prosecutor Owen Edwards told the court how he met the victim and her friend in Northwich town centre, bought them a Subway and offered to buy her some perfume.

At around 4pm the group headed to Verdin Park where Hamer and his victim – who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome – started playing hide and seek.

Mr Edwards said: “Once alone he said he wanted to sleep with her. He asked how old she was, to which she replied 13, and he told her she looked older.

“He kissed her and said if she slept with him he wouldn’t say anything. In her own words, she did it so he would ‘stop mithering’.

“After she told him it was her first time but he said he didn’t care. She said she felt wierd after it, and like she couldn’t move when it was happening. She felt like crying after.”

The next day she and her friends bumped into Hamer – who has learning difficulties and a mental age of less than 12 – and he started recording them on his phone. When they asked him to stop, he said: “You should be careful because I can arrange for you to be kidnapped.”

The following April she found out his real age and contacted the police in June.

He had already been sentenced to a 12-month detention and training order in September 2007 for having under-age sex with a 12-year-old and abusing a five-year-old.

The court heard how in February 2007, he had consensual sex with a 12-year-old girl in Middlewich, which came to light after the victim confided in her teacher. He admitted it but said it happened a week before his 16th birthday.

And on March 17, 2007, he was charged with abusing a five-year-old.

Mr Edwards said: “She told her dad that he [Hamer} came into her room and kissed her bits. She felt bad that he might catch her germs.”

Hamer at first denied the allegation but finally confided in police that he was attracted to young girls.

“He admitted he had a problem with young girls and that he couldn’t help but find young girls attractive,” Mr Edwards said.

Sentencing, Judge Elgin Edwards expressed concerns that Hamer could himself go on to become a victim of sexual assault in prison.

He said:“It’s hard to come to any other conclusion other than that he is a danger to young girls. He has admitted that himself.

“It is a very unusual and very worrying case. There is a vulnerability in him to become a victim of sexual offences in a custodial environment.

“He is functioning at a [mental] level slightly below his victims.”

Speaking directly to Hamer, he said: “It seems to me that you are clearly dangerous and it is a terrible thaing to have to say that to a young man.

“You must try and control yourself in the future. If you do not do so, you will have a long time in custody and a miserable life. Don’t think that you will get away with this again.”

He will serve three years in prison and two years on extended licence.
