Gadbrook Park staff get set for tonight's Sport Relief marathon

5:10pm Friday 19th March 2010

STAFF at Barclays, Gadbrook Park will be giving up their Friday night for charity and manning the phones at the Northwich call centre to collect donations for Sport Relief on Friday.

Since 2003, staff at the Barclays call centre have been supporting Comic Relief, with some 2,500 volunteers manning the phones over the years, handling more than 58,144 calls and processing more than £1.94m for the charity.

This will be the first year that the team, recognised by Comic Relief as the largest volunteer call centre in the UK for processing the most donations for Comic Relief in 2007 and 2009, (£14,000 and £42,000 respectively), will be supporting comic Relief’s sister event, Sport Relief.

Rob Hawthorn, customer service director, said, “Supporting Sport Relief is a fantastic opportunity for all our team to have great fun, raise money and take donations on the night. It is an incredible evening to be part of and made more so by the fact that donations go to such worthwhile and valuable projects.”

Volunteer staff numbers are expected to swell to 300, including 182 call centre staff and colleagues from other departments.
