Farmily says thanks to hospital

THE family of a dedicated Leighton Hospital volunteer have donated more than £900 to the hospital’s intensive care unit in her memory.

Rose Tomkinson supported the hospital and its League of Friends volunteers organisation for more than 30 years.

As well as giving her time working in the hospital’s WRVS tea bar and supporting the league, Rose provided transport for other volunteers and was affectionately known as ‘Taxi Rose’.

The money was raised following the family’s funeral request for well-wishers to donate to the hospital’s League of Friends. Rose had recently spent some time in the hospital’s intensive care unit, and her family had high praise for it.

Paul Tomkinson said: “We experienced first hand the care and welfare given to patients and families within ICU.

“We were so thankful to the staff and the moral support they gave us, and hopefully this money will go somewhere towards repaying that gratitude.”

Sister Sian Axon of the ICU team said: “The staff are very appreciative of the donation. The money will help us maintain and improve the standards of care we offer.”
