AN abandoned restaurant is to be given a new lease of life as a three-floored luxury bar.
The former Bella Roma, at Wincham Wharf, off Manchester Road, has been empty since the New Year.
But never one to miss a trick, Tony Beasant, former owner of the Slow and Easy, in Lostock, has lavished thousands of pounds on the place and will reopen it tonight, Wednesday.
Renamed Nectars, the club-cum-bar will operate a strictly over 25s policy in the evening, and offer sports, karaoke and dancing on the top floor, and a wine bar on the ground floor, catering for the business community.
Tony said: “Lostock Gralam is now missing a local community pub.
“We want Nectars to be somewhere that families can come at the weekend during the day-time and have a walk down the canal and a drink outside.
“And there will be karaoke seeing as I was the original presenter of karaoke in Lostock Gralam. ‘Tony Tubbs’ is back with all the latest tunes.”
Tony and his wife Maria retired from the Slow and Easy in August last year, but he said the quiet life was not for him.
“Apart from anything else, I’ve really missed the job so this seemed like a great opportunity,” he said.
