GET to grips with Madagascan hissing cockroaches and giant African land snails at Winsford Library on Saturday, March 6.

Visitors will be able to handle a range of exotic beasts as part of the free fun to make World Book Day.

From 10am to 12.30pm, there will also be a free smarter driving simulator to help motorists learn how to save the cost of a month's worth of petrol each year; a free prize draw for family tickets to Knowsley Safari Park, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Hobbit at the Liverpool Empire Theatre.

There will also be an ‘Our Winsford Library’ bookstall selling new books at a fraction of cover price.

Library manager Ian Anstice said: “This is great event for children and their families, offering a great morning out at no cost.

"It is free to join the library so why not bring in something official with your address on and do that at the same time?"
