NORTHWICH’S carnival queen for 2010 has been chosen.

Hartford teenager Chloe Gibson will take this year’s lead role after being part of the carnival retinue since she was six years old.

The 15-year-old Hartford High School pupil was determined to win the crown this year.

Her mum Rebecca said: “She was made up – it’s always been her dream to be queen.

“She missed it by one point last year and this was her last chance, so she went all guns out for it.”

Chloe’s retinue has also been selected.

It includes empress Ebonie Davey, 12, princess Darcey Hemmings, 10, rosebud Chloe Brady, seven, crown bearer Darren Phipps, eight, and fairy queen Ashleigh Van Embden, four.

Ladies in waiting are Alice Dewsbury, Megan Taylor and Sophie Vaughan, maids of honour are Emily Foster and Amber Drinkwater, flower girls are Katie Vaughan, Courtney Price, Mistie Lewis and Chloe-Leigh Van Embden, petal bearers are Elizabeth Pimblatt, Megan Furmedge, Tiger Delahunty, Lydia Drinkwater, Holly Dugdale and Oriana Brown, train bearers are Ashleigh Evans, Shannon Price, Natasha Warburton and Alarna Perry and fairies are Sophie Gubert and Daisy Delahunty.

Boys also have a part to play with Kevin Phipps as sceptre bearer, Ryan Gibson as sash bearer and Aeron Drinkwater as page boy.

At the selection event Demi-Lee Johnson, the current Northwich carnival queen, presented a donation from the proceeds of the 2009 carnival to Northwich Stroke Club, the Alzheimer’s Society, Vale Royal Talking Newspaper, the Deafness Support Network and Age Concern Cheshire.
